About this Event

7.30 – 9pm including an interval

In 1760, Gainsborough painted a portrait of Ann Ford, which took the world by storm. Prepared to break rules about how a woman should be portrayed, this painting was a cause of outrage, but put a seal on Gainsborough’s glowing reputation.

This play is about the making of the painting and the relationship between painter and subject, a very personal and exploratory process which reveals their place in history and the creation of a masterpiece. Prepare to be taken into the world of Gainsborough and this extraordinary young woman, in the beautiful setting of Christchurch Mansion, which houses a range of Gainsborough’s portraits.

This play is suitable for ages 10+. Under 14s must be accompanied by a fully paying adult (18+).

A cash bar will be available (ID required).

Tickets £12 per person
