Discover Art in a Day

Suitable for KS1 or KS2

Come and explore the diverse world of The Arts at Christchurch Mansion, from paintings and sculpture to clothing and furniture and discover more about some of the famous artists who have called Suffolk their home. There is the option for pupils to complete the Discover Arts Award as part of this visit.

Activities include:

  • Becoming an art detective.
  • Creating a design.
  • Drawing.
  • Performing your own freeze-frame.
  • Creative writing about art.


Minimum and maximum group sizes: 20 to 60 pupils.

Adult:Pupil ratio: 1:6

Duration: 240 minutes, 10am-2pm with lunch break.

Christchurch Mansion

Full day session

£4.50 per child (Ipswich Borough schools)
£5 per child (non-Borough school)

For the Arts Award, there is an additional fee payable to Trinity College / Arts Council for the certificate of £4.40 for 25+ children or £3.95 for 50+.

Things to note

All school, nursery and group visits must be booked in advance.

Our team can reserve a date for you at time of booking, but please note the visit will not be confirmed until you receive a booking form.

If you need to cancel your booking, please do so at least 14 working days prior to your visit. Charges will be incurred if you do not give the required notice.

We are now invoicing all school groups for their visits. Invoices will follow approximately 20 working days from the date of your trip. The number of children indicated on the booking form is an approximate. You will only be charged for the number of children who actually visit on the day.

A minimum charge may apply. 

Prices are valid until 31st March 2024.
