Toys at Christchurch Mansion
Suitable for KS1
During this workshop your pupils will explore how toys have changed over the past 150 years using our wonderful toy collection here at Christchurch Mansion. They will look at real Victorian toys, play with some replica toys and consider similarities and differences. This is a mix of museum-led activities and those led by your own staff.

Timings
This is a full-day experience, starting at 10am and finishing at 2pm, with a break for lunch.
Activities
+ Compare modern toys with those played with by the Victorians 150 years ago, exploring the beautiful playroom and looking at real artefacts.
+ Play cooperatively with a range of toys, both old and new.
+ Experience the zoetrope and make a simple moving-image toy.
+ Follow the Toys Trail around the mansion with toys to spot and fun questions to answer.
Group Size
Our workshops are charged for a minimum of 20 pupils and a maximum of 60 pupils. If you have fewer than 20 pupils, you can still come along but note that you will be charged for 20 pupils. Due to the size of our rooms, we will need to split your group and rotate activities. See the Teacher Notes pack for full details.
